England international Grace Clinton has joined local rivals Manchester City in a deal that sees compatriot Jess Park move in the opposite direction to Manchester United.

United rejected several bids for Clinton, before a move for Park was offered to bolster United's depth. Both players signed four-year contracts with their new clubs on Thursday.

Though the deals are separate, both with transfer fees, sources told ESPN that City are paying a sum on top of Park's move as Clinton, 22, is valued higher.

Clinton, who played a key role in the Lionesses' 2025 Euro winning campaign, had only one year left on her contract with United and garnered heavy interest from several clubs.

Last season's third placed team wanted to avoid a repeat of former business that saw top stars Alessia Russo and Mary Earps leave on free transfer after rejecting competitive bids, sources said.

Clinton joins fellow new signings at City, Jade Rose, Iman Beney and Sydney Lohmann.

"City, for me, has always played an amazing style of football," Clinton said in a statement. "Keeping the ball, it looks lovely, and there are amazing players [here].

"Hempo [Lauren Hemp], Bunny [Shaw], [Vivianne] Miedema, [Yui] Hasegawa are just of a few of them and I want to get better and grown and learn things in my career. And I think there are amazing people here to learn things from.

"To play this style of football will be really enjoyable."

While the loss for United is a blow, the introduction of the versatile Park will add depth to the side as the midfielder is also able to play on the wing.

They have made only two other signings this window in Julia Zigiotti Olme and Fridolina Rolfö.

Park, 23, who was also part of England's squad in Switzerland, completed her medical at Carrington on Wednesday evening before ending her eight-year stay at City.

"I am really happy to be here and can't wait to get started," Park said in a statement. "I wanted to break out of the boundaries and push myself to take on a new challenge.

"I'm the sort of person who wants to keep improving and pushing limits, and I think this is the perfect place for me to do that.

"I'm a player who wants the ball, and when I get it I like to look up and try and make things happen for my teammates, so I think I can fit in really well here. I know the ambitions are very high and I want to help the team push towards them."
