Los Angeles Rams 2025 training camp preview

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Rams' 2025 training camp runs from July 24 to August 3 at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

The Rams started their offseason with questions about whether quarterback Matthew Stafford would return to Los Angeles, as he and the team worked through his contract situation. After adjusting his contract, the Rams made some significant changes to their offense.

Now, Los Angeles enters training camp with a revamped wide receivers room after the team released Cooper Kupp this offseason and signed Davante Adams for a one-two punch with Puka Nacua.

Here's a closer look at what we are watching at camp -- and a 53-man roster projection:

After not trading for Jalen Ramsey, can the Rams rely on their current cornerback group?

While both general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay acknowledged that they spoke to the Miami Dolphins about trading for the former Rams cornerback, McVay said there were many "layers" to a trade getting done. Miami ultimately traded Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers in June. The Rams did not make any major moves to add to the position during the offseason, either through free agency or the draft.

When asked whether he felt the Rams needed to add to the secondary if they do not add Ramsey, McVay said, "No, I feel good about where we're at."

"Obviously, Jalen's a unique deal, but I think we all feel this way in terms of the guys that have played," McVay said in May.

Three players to watch

WR Davante Adams

Adams is the newest addition to the receivers room and has spent the Rams' offseason program working to get familiar with Stafford. Adams, who is entering his 12th NFL season, has topped 1,000 passing yards for the last five seasons. Third-year receiver Nacua said Adams' impact was felt "from the moment he walked in" to the Rams' facility.

TE Tyler Higbee

The Rams used their top draft pick in April on tight end Terrance Ferguson, adding him to a crowded tight ends room of Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen. McVay called Higbee "instrumental to our success" this offseason, pointing to the time he missed last season while recovering from a torn ACL.

RT Rob Havenstein

The longtime Rams tackle had cleanout procedures on both of his shoulders this offseason but said in April that he plans to "be rocking and rolling for training camp." The Rams already have questions on the other side of the offensive line as Alaric Jackson is dealing with blood clots in his lower leg and could miss time.

Key position battles

Tight end. By drafting Ferguson with the 46th pick in April, the Rams added to an already significant group of tight ends on the roster. The Rams have not typically featured much 12 personnel (two tight ends, two receivers and one running back) under McVay, but that could change going forward and allow more use of the tight end group. Los Angeles was in 12 personnel just 15.5% of the time during the 2024 regular season, which ranked 25th in the NFL.

Third receiver. The Rams have a clear top two receivers in Adams and Nacua, but because of McVay's high usage of 11 personnel (three receivers on the field), the third receiver spot is an important role in this Rams offense. Los Angeles re-signed Tutu Atwell to a one-year deal this offseason and also have 2024 sixth-round pick Jordan Whittington and Xavier Smith on the roster. Offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur said when Atwell has gotten his opportunities, "he's made the most of it."

"You would think the way it is on paper right now he's going to get the most opportunities he's had," LaFleur siad. "We'll see how it all unfolds but he's had a really good offseason."

Keep an eye on: Kyren Williams' contract situation.

Williams, a fifth-round pick in 2022, is entering the final season of his rookie deal. This spring, Snead said the Rams would like to get a new deal done and McVay said during minicamp that the two sides have made positive progress with their discussions. Williams was present for the Rams' offseason program.

Last season, Williams ran for a career-high 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns on 316 carries and had 34 catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns. The Rams do have a crowded backfield, especially after trading up to draft Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter in the fourth round in April.
